A new program from Ray LaCroix & Accel Training Systems and Dr. Cindi Cox, DVM & Equine MedSports dedicated to problem solving, and unlocking the potential of your horse!

What is this program?

  • A time specific ( 2 weeks to 2 months ) training program for your horse with Ray LaCroix, in conjunction with Dr. Cindi Cox, DVM.
  • This training program is designed for amateur riders who do their own work, as well as professional trainers who have reached an impasse with a specific horse and feel that the horse has more potential yet to give.
  • All Targeted Training will be conducted in Scottsdale, AZ.

What makes this training program different?

  • This program offers the unique opportunity to blend the talents of two top equine specialists to diagnostically pin point the root causes of you and your horse’s limitations in your quest to develop and show your horse to his/her potential!

Accel Targeted Training recognizes that:

  • Poor equine performance and attitudes often stem from one root problem.
  • Root problems can be training related, soundness related, or a combination of both.
  • Identification of the problem is the key!

If you feel that you have reached an impasse with your horse, read on!!

Thoughts dictate your actions, and actions are what get you results. Excellent results don’t “just happen”. The path to success is demarcated by proper decisions.

Equine training may progress slowly because traditionally, the same training techniques are applied to all horses.      Just as, in the psychology of human learning, it is unreasonable to use the same teaching methods for each person, the same holds true for horse training.

Unfortunately with horses, the tendencies are to assume that all horses learn the same way, and, those that don’t respond, are categorized as “problems”, or “difficult”. Understanding each horse and addressing each personality likes, dislikes, and individual tolerance levels will “pin-point”, and facilitate the removal of the roadblocks to success .

When progress with horse training stops, it is usually because a horse has encountered a “roadblock” and has become “locked up”, literally. Horses will freeze their poll’s and become non-responsive, heavy mouthed, flighty, difficult to guide, difficult to frame, and difficult to stop. All of these behaviors can stem from one root problem, and simply being more diligent in training isn’t the answer. Training without identifying and eliminating the root problem only extends training time, which can intensify the problem, and can be harmful to your horse’s health as well.

Don’t do more of what doesn’t work. Change what you are doing to obtain better results!

Simply put, our goal is to supplement your existing training program by identifying the root problem and to help you and your horse back on the road to resolution. Once the problem is identified, we’ll help you modify your training program to ensure smoother and more rapid training progress in the future.

“Locking up”, and hitting plateaus can occur from a variety of sources.

  • Use of improper bits.
  • Miss-reading your horse and using inappropriate training techniques.
  • Physical pain.
  • Claustrophobic responses.
  • Inadvertent cues.
  • Misapplied cues.
  • Training at an overly intensive pace.
